OPEC Secretary General calls for accelerated energy investments
In an exclusive studio interview with Energy Connects at ADIPEC 2025, His Excellency Haitham Al Ghais, OPEC Secretary General, emphasised the need for “clear messaging” and balanced investment across all energy sources to meet growing global demand. Dismissing the notion of peak oil demand, he projected consumption to rise to 123 million barrels per day by 2050, underscoring that the world will require $18.2 trillion in oil and gas investments. He also highlighted renewed cohesion within OPEC+ and growing South-South energy partnerships as key to maintaining market stability and driving collaboration ahead of COP30 in Brazil.
